In My Father’s House
This project engaged with the lived experience of Black masculinity, and was conceived by performance poet and writer, SuAndi OBE, cultural director of Black Arts Alliance (BAA). It brought together performance/live artists: Ronald Fraser-Munroe, Mem Morrison, Kevin Johnson, Max Alder, Dinesh Allirajah and McMillan, to lead a series of workshops that explored stories of fathers as sons and as fathers with local Black men from the Greater Manchester area.
The outcome was a performance piece that fused tableaux of short dramatic sketches, poetic monologue, movement, mixed audio-visual media, and 20 drummers for an ensemble performance at the Contact Theatre, Manchester from 1-2 November 2001.
